The original Caisse tea product contains the following herbs

• Sheep sorrel (Rumex acetosella)
• Burdock root (Arctium lappa)
• Slippery elm bark (Ulmus fulva)
• Indian or Himalayan rhubarb root (Rheum officianale)

These four ingredients have been authenticated directly from a video about Rene Caisse showing the ingredients that she used in her clinic.

Due to the varying quality of other products that were available on the market and some at rather inflated prices, we decided to source the correct ingredients and produce our own tea in Australia. It is now twice the size and half the price of the product we were previously importing from Canada. We can also monitor quality assurance and maintain a high standard of this natural product.

Active Constituents

The four herbs in Essiac formulations contain a number of phytochemicals with anticancer properties, in particular, the anthraquinones rhein and emodin can be found in high concentrations in Rumex acetosella and Rheum officianale. These anthraquinones have demonstrated a cytotoxic effect in cancer cells in vitro, and an antitumour effect in some animal studies.

A second group of compounds with anticancer potential are the high molecular weight polysaccharides. These can be found in Ulmus fulva.

The seed of Arctium lappa contains arctigenin, a lignan with anticancer potential.

Caution: Due to high oxalic acid levels in herbs such as Common Sorrel and Turkish Rhubarb beware of any product that cannot provide proof that they contain the correct ingredients used by Rene Caisse. (If in doubt, ask to see their herbal analysis certificates). Please note that Turkish Rhubarb and Common Sorrel are NOT used in our formulation.

What is it like?

Once made, the tea has a gentle “earthy” taste, not unpleasant and certainly not undrinkable like some herbal teas. Once boiled up and refrigerated, the tea should be consumed within 14-20 days.

How much do I use?

As a treatment half a cup (120ml) of made-up tea should be taken 3-4 times each day. Do not expect instant results, but be prepared to used the correct amounts for a few months before assessing your progress. It is recommended to drink the tea one hour before meals, that is, on an empty stomach. The tea should be taken for at least twelve weeks without interruption.
